We are happy to take on these cases because that is what it takes to ensure that even the low income South Carolinians get equal access to civil justice. Other times, however, the solution to a client’s legal problem may be very simple. Yet, the difference that our help makes on their lives can be no less impactful. | ||||
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A Win For Tenants in Eviction LawAlthough most people will never know it, July 27, 2018 represented an important milestone for defendants in evictions actions filed in South Carolina. That date saw the culmination of months of work by the SC Legal Services Housing Unit when Chief Justice Donald W. Beatty, head of the unified court system in South Carolina, issued Administrative Order 2018-07-27-01. For the first time in South Carolina, basic rights and procedural information was laid out to protect one’s rights in an eviction proceeding. | ||||

Reentry is the process of assisting formerly institutionalized citizens to reenter back into their respective communities. Programs dedicated to reentry focus on reducing recidivism, improving health care, obtaining employment, and finding stable housing.
