FIGHTING THE ABUSIVE LANDLORD Confused and afraid, Bethany Strout initially sought our services for an eviction notice she had received. While resolving the eviction situation, she was also served with another lawsuit from her landlord, a collection matter for unpaid rent and court costs. The second case severely upset and stressed Bethany because her landlord was seeking a total of $3,370.00. | ||||

While the law is standard as to what can be expunged, the application process can differ based on the county where the conviction occurred. However, the Coronavirus has raised new concerns about child abuse. Schools have been closed since mid-March. Many parents have been laid off or are working from home. CLAUDE A. TAYLOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD On June 25, 2020, Eddie McDonnell was honored with the Claude A. Taylor Distinguished Service Award from the Spartanburg County Bar Association. Eddie retired from South Carolina Legal Services at the end of last year, after decades of service to the low-income South Carolinians. The honor was presented in recognition of Eddie’s years of service to the community. His South Carolina Legal Services family came to support Eddie on this special occasion. |
